Sony is lowering its two PlayStation VR packages. The company announced today that it will begin selling $ 399 & quot; Core & rdquo; PSVR, which used to include only a helmet and now bundled with a $ 59 PlayStation camera. Sony's more expensive $ 499 suit, which includes a helmet, a camera, two PlayStation Move controllers, and Sony's own PlayStation Worlds, have cut prices from $ 499 to $ 449. These two sets will be listed on September 1.
PlayStation VR is often claimed by Sony as a $ 399 VR helmet, but users need an external camera to use it, so the real price is higher than $ 399. Earlier this year, some retailers launched a free camera with a promotional package, but Sony's current package is the official price cuts. The more expensive package also makes the PlayStation VR cheaper than the Oculus Rift, and the Oculus Rift package price fell to $ 499 last month.
This year the three high-end VR helmet have appeared in the price decline. HTC last week to Vive down to $ 599. Compared with Oculus and HTC, Sony is making moderate price cuts, but also eliminates the PlayStation VR annoying hidden one of the cost, and make the whole platform more attractive.
