Recently, Zynga acquired Peak Games, a Turkish mobile solitaire game studio, for $ 100 million in cash. This is one of the biggest acquisitions made by Frank Gibeau since becoming CEO in March last year, and it shows how Peak Games is focused on the development of casual card games.
Zynga, which acquired Peak Games, will include card games like Spades Plus, Gin Rummy Plus and Okey. Peak Games will retain its Toy Blast and Toon Blast games and will remain independent of its operations in Istanbul.
For Zynga, this acquisition is a huge deal.
In an interview, Gibeau said the acquisition was one of Zynga's ways to boost total revenue by achieving the goal of strengthening its existing business base by serving, expanding existing games, launching new games and securing new games.
It is understood that Peak has been playing games for seven years, and it has been focused on the mobile casual assignment game and the Blast series of mobile games. Peak's founder and CEO Sidar Sahin will continue to lead the company.
Although Zynga's own solitaire card games overlap with Peak's games, Gibeau said the biggest acquisition was to attract new players from the Peak game.
According to data statistics firm Sensor Tower, Peak Games reported more than $ 165 million in App Store and Google Play revenues in Q3 2017, an increase of nearly 145% over the same period last year. Among them, "toy blast" revenue reached nearly 75% (124 million), "Okey Plus", "Spades Plus", "Gin Rummy Plus" were 18 million US dollars, 9 million US dollars, 8 million US dollars.
