In 2017, compared to dozens of handset manufacturers have entered the full screen of Shenghua Huajing, a few companies in the VR field into a new era of collective machine, it is a bit low-key simple feeling.

Of course, whether it is from the industry's body mass, product sales, or the user's attention and many other aspects, the phone and VR products are not comparable in fact. However, with the same vendors, they all have one thing in common, that is to launch some "betting on the future" of the product.

So for VR vendors, what the short term "future" is?

This answer, just released last month, two VR integrated machine Oculus,Get 1 billion users. And if you hand the microphone to HTC, I think its answer should be roughly the same as Oculus.

At today's HTC Vive Developer Summit, HTC unveiled the HTC Vive Foucus, the VR all-in-one product, and the Vive Wave development platform. Although the summit, HTC Vive executives did not shout like Zuckerberg to obtain the goal of 1 billion users, but from the content of this summit, HTC's intent seems to have been clear enough.

Let's talk about HTC's Vive Focus VR machine, compared to looks like the phone VR's Oculus GO, Vive Focus is more like a cut off the head of the display, its body looks, it seems slightly more than Oculus Santa Cruz Thicker.

It is understood, HTC claims Vive Focus is designed for the mass market, it is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, without connecting any cable, you can achieve that is ready to use. At the same time, it is also HTC's first VR-in-one product that uses Inside-out tracking technology to support 6-degree-of-freedom browsing and interaction for large space positioning.

Elsewhere, the Vive Focus is painted in blue with two cameras on the front and an AMOLED display inside, but the exact resolution has not yet been announced.

HTC said Vive Focus can use the Viveport content platform just like the Vive head-end, and more than 100 developers now offer content for HTC Vive Focus. At present, the VR one machine release date, price and other details have not been released.

In addition to one machine, at this Vive summit, HTC also announced the launch of Vive Wave open platform. Specifically, this is a standardized mobile open platform built to address the fragmentation of the VR platform.

With Vive Wave, VR content developers can save time adapting content to multiple VR products. according toHTC Vive official website shows, Vive Wave has the following six major features.

  • Embedable VR runtime, cross-platform support for Android 7.1+
  • Development interface, easy to connect various plug-ins and equipment
  • VR optimization for mobile
  • Support multiple types of VR head
  • Provides APIs in industry standard format and easily migrates content to Vive Wave
  • Supports many different CPU architecture optimizations

Twelve companies, including Ichilvy, Storm Mirror, Skyworth, Nubian, 360 and Quanta, have now announced plans to integrate Vive Wave with the Viveport open content platform for future products.

In general, both Vive Focus, a mass-market integrated device, and the Vive Wave open platform, it is clear that HTC and Oculus aim to be the same, all with better VR experience and closer sales Price to attract more consumer groups and developers.

But VR bowl is not so hot meal, but also be so hot again?
