Industry sources said on Tuesday that Samsung Electronics is expected to begin production of its first foldable smartphone in November of this year and is expected to be available by the end of this year or early next year.
According to sources, Samsung Electronics has recently finalized the phone's final configuration and production plan. Key display development will be completed by March of this year, and then begin production of the panel in September.
The Samsung foldable smartphone is likely to have a 7.3-inch OLED display that folds inwards. At present, Samsung Display Company is testing the prototype display to ensure it will not be damaged by the continued folding.
Allegedly, Samsung plans to hold private meetings with key customers during this week's CES Consumer Electronics Show to show foldable displays.
This phone will likely be the most expensive model Samsung has ever made and is expected to become the flagship product in the high-end market for the world's largest smartphone maker in the coming years.
