Ubuntu 18.04 LTS will default to X.Org

via:CnBeta     time:2018/1/27 7:01:11     readed:304

Now it seems that Canonical wants to make the new version of LTS, the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver), safer, and decided to use the old XOrg graphics stack by default.

Software such as Google Hangouts, Skype or WebRTC Services, Remote Desktop Services like VNC or RDP works well with Xorg, and the recoverability of the GNOME Shell crashes is also improved with Xorg.

This is a bit expected because Ubuntu 18.04 is the LTS version supporting software and security updates over the next five years and many Ubuntu 16.04 LTS users will want to upgrade their installation to a Bionic Beaver this spring. Therefore, what Canonical needs to be sure is that Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is a robust and very stable version.

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) will be released on April 26, 2018, and those wanting to use the next generation Wayland displayserverThe user will be able to choose from the login screen. Canonical will stick with the GNOME Shell as the default user interface for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and said it may offer Wayland an agreement to provide screen-sharing services, but not as fast as they might expect.
