Amazon said late Wednesday that its planned solution would involve disabling the phrase "Alexa, laugh" and changing the voice instruction to "Alexa, can you laughing?" The company said the latter "is not likely to produce a wrong response". "We are also changing Alexa's response from simple laughter to one," an Amazon spokesman said.
As the media reports and some Twitter users point out, Alexa sometimes makes laughter even without being awakened. Twitter and Reddit users reported that they were mistaken for a real person laughing around them, and when you were alone at home, you might be panicked. Many people respond to the noise by closing the Alexa device.
@CaptHandlebar, the Twitter user, is one of the first users to report this.
