Google’s recently released Chrome 66 enabled automatic silence for web sites that automatically play video and audio. As a result, this strategy has resulted in a large number of websites not working properly. The problem is not limited to only those websites that automatically play videos, page travel sites, and interactive support. Content sites were found to be muted by default because of their strategy.

Google has received a large number of complaints and it now decides to reverse the application of some of the strategies. Google DevelopersAnnouncingThey released an update that temporarily removed the auto-mute policy for the Web Audio API, but the auto-mute policy still works for <video> and <audio>. Google said that they will give developers more time to update the code. Chrome 70 released in October of this year will once again enable the auto mute policy for the Web Audio API. Many people think that Google should let users decide which site to enable autoplay silence, which Firefox uses.
