At present, the China Compass satellite navigation system has a global network coverage phase and is progressing smoothly. By the end of 2018, a basic system will be formed to serve the “Belt and Road” initiative. Countries and regions along the route will build a global system by 2020.

The market size of Beidou Navigation has also been quite large. According to Cheng Chengqi, Director of China Satellite Navigation System Management Office, as of the end of April 2017, the cumulative sales volume of China-made Compass navigation chip modules has exceeded 65 million, and sales of high-precision board and receiver antennas have respectively accounted for 30% of the domestic market share, and 90 %, and output to more than 80 countries and regions.

The manufacturing process of the Beidou navigation chip has also progressed from 0.35 micron to 28 nanometers. The minimum price of a single chip is less than 6 yuan. The overall performance has reached or even surpassed that of similar international products, and has risen to high-end products.

The Beidou system has also formed a complete application industry chain. It is a standard configuration in the national security and key areas. It has also been applied in large scale in the consumer sector, and the integration of the Internet has spawned the "Beidou +" application model.

In Beijing, 325,000 taxis and 21,000 buses have been equipped with Beidou, 1,500 logistics trucks and 19,000 delivery staff have used Beidou terminals and bracelets to access the logistics cloud platform. The Beidou module is also commonly installed on shared bicycles.

According to another data, the output value of China's satellite navigation and location services industry was 255 billion yuan in 2017, an increase of 20.4% year-on-year, including chips, devices, algorithms, software, navigation data, and terminal equipment directly related to satellite navigation technology. The core output value of the industry accounted for 35.4%. At the same time, Beidou's contribution rate to the industry's core output value has reached 80%.

On March 30 this year, China successfully launched two satellites of the Beidou Global Satellite Navigation System (Beidou III). This is the fourth launch of the Beidou III and is a double-edged binary satellite.

So far, China has already owned 31 Beidou navigation satellites.
