ReportChina's PC software piracy rate has been the biggest drop. Between 2014 and 2016, China's piracy rate dropped by 4%. By this year, the piracy rate has dropped by 4% again. China's unauthorized software usage dropped by 8% in 4 years, the most obvious improvement in the global survey. "This decline is partly affected by the important trends that are taking place in China," BSA said.

The decline in the use of unauthorized software, on the one hand, is largely attributed to the increase in the state's efforts to legislation and law enforcement and to the improvement of the protection of intellectual property. The State Council, the State Intellectual Property Office and the State Copyright Administration have promulgated and updated relevant policies, regulations and management methods in succession, and also carry out special management actions in key areas. In addition, the establishment of intellectual property courts in major cities has also played a positive role in restraining the use of unauthorized software in China.

On the other hand, in the Chinese market, the gradual popularization of cloud computing technology and subscription based software based payment model in the enterprise, the increase in the number of free software, and the changes in consumer attitudes and behavior have also effectively promoted such positive changes.
