Amazon wants to help entrepreneurs start their own delivery company

Amazon’s new plan, called Delivery Service Partners, gives startups the opportunity to develop a successful package delivery business. The company will offer "starting business leases" of dark grey trucks with the Prime symbol on "attractive terms." The company will also get other support from Amazon, including discounts on uniforms, fuel, insurance, etc.

Amazon stated that interested partners may conduct business at prices as low as US$10,000 but do not include the cost of recruiting drivers, nor do they need logistics experience. Startups expect to have between 20 and 40 trucks, employ about 100 drivers, and earn up to $300,000 in profits each year.

The company will receive Amazon parcels from one of the 75 US delivery stations and then deliver it to buyers. The company said that its trucks can only be used for Amazon delivery, but partners can deliver goods to other companies when using different vehicles. It has never specified whether it is on a per-delivery or monthly royalty basis.

The program also brings advantages to Amazon customers. More shoppers will be able to track their delivery on the map, contact the driver and change the delivery location of the package.
