BYD electric bus
BYD, a Chinese electric car maker, has set up a joint venture with San Francisco investors to provide electric bus rental services to cities, schools and businesses in the United States.
The family won
The two companies hope to speed up the adoption of electric buses by cutting customers' upfront costs. Despite low electricity prices and high environmental benefits, electric buses have been slow to start in the United States, mainly because they cost too much.
At present, the number of electric buses on the roads all over the world has reached 386 thousand, but there are only 350 in the US. According to Peng Boxin energy finance, about 99% of these vehicles are in China. Saa said that the BYD -Generate joint venture has deployed 24 electric buses in California, Colorado and Mexico, including Facebook and Stanford University.
According to Bloomberg data, Buffett's Berkhire Hathaway Inc holds nearly 25% of BYD H-shares.
Saa joined Generate in 2014 to invest in renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste utilization, agriculture and water conservancy projects.
