As the global technology giant, Apple and Google have all the App app revenue, but the gap between the two is growing.
According to a recent report from Sensor Tower, a mobile application data analyst, global mobile application revenue reached $18.2 billion in the third quarter of 2008, up 22.7% from $14.8 billion in the same period last year.

The apple store has a high income and Google has a large download.
Specifically, revenue attributed to Apple's App Store was $12 billion, up 23.3% from a year earlier, accounting for 66% of global mobile app revenue; revenue attributed to Google's App Play was $6.2 billion, up 21.5% from a year earlier.
Although both app stores have maintained steady growth this quarter and Apple Store has consistently outstripped Google Play in revenue, we can see that in the third quarter of 2008, Apple App Store revenue was 93% higher than Google App Store, the biggest gap since 2014.
However, Google still has a clear advantage in app downloads because of the rapid popularity of low-cost Android devices in developing countries in recent years.
In the third quarter of 2018, the number of APP downloads from the two app stores rose 10.9% from a year earlier to 27.1 billion, according to Sensor Tower. Google Play downloaded 19.5 billion yuan, up 14.3% from a year earlier, while the App Store downloaded 7.6 billion yuan, up only 3.1% from a year earlier, less than 40% of Google's.

Revenue from mobile gaming applications was the most important source of revenue from the two app stores, which accounted for 76% of all app sales worldwide in the third quarter of 2018, amounting to $13.8 billion. Among them, revenue from mobile games on the App Store was $8.5 billion, up 12.8% year-on-year, accounting for 70.8% of all app store revenue; revenue from mobile games on Google Play was up 18.4% year-on-year, to $5.3 billion, accounting for 85.5% of all app store revenue.

In terms of downloads, the total number of mobile game apps downloaded by the two app stores increased by 2.2% in the last quarter from a year earlier to 9.5 billion. The amount of downloading on Google Play is 3 times more than that on App Store, reaching 7 billion 200 million times, accounting for 75.8% of the total downloads.
