Digitimes quoted PC supply chain manufacturers as saying that AMD will announce the 7nm process, the Zen2 architecture of the Radon 3rd generation processor, and the new generation X570 chipset at the Taipei Computer Show on May 27. Codename Rome Rome's 7nm 64 coreserverThe chip EPYC will also be shipped in the middle of this year, and the next-generation Navi series of graphics cards will also be unveiled in Q3, all of which will use the 7nm process.
Due to the success of the AVerMedia processor, AMD's market share on the desktop has increased significantly, and the EPYC server chip market share has increased from 1% in Q4 2017 to 3.2% at the end of last year.
Due to seasonal factors and reduced graphics card shipments, AMD announced that its revenue in Q1 this year will fall by 12% from the previous quarter and down 24% year-on-year. Although AMD launched the 7nm Radeon VII graphics card in February, this product alone cannot change the sharp decline in sales caused by the mine card crash.
AMD expects its semi-custom chip business to decline year-on-year in Q1, but revenues for desktops, Reilong, EPYC for servers and data center GPUs will grow.
Due to Intel's lack of CPU, HP and Lenovo began ordering AMD CPUs for their notebooks in the second half of 2018. Asus also adopted AMD solutions in several games, and sales exceeded expectations. Acer and HP also use the AMD platform in their Chromebooks.
As more and more vendors use the AMD platform, AMD's notebook market share is expected to increase significantly.
The Yanlong 3000 series processor and X570 chipset with Zen2 architecture will be the first consumer-grade platform to support PCIe 4.0. Due to the high cost performance of the platform, many motherboard manufacturers have also added motherboards based on AMD 500 series. The proportion of goods is expected to increase AMD's share of the desktop market in the second half of this year.
The X570 chipset will be designed by AMD itself, because AMD's chipset partner Xiang Shuo can't make PCIe 4.0 at the end of 2019, but the mainstream chipset is still auspicious.
At present, AMD's lucrative profits from the GPU business mainly come from the data center market, and Google's cloud game platform Stadia will use AMD's GPU.
AMD CEO Su Zifeng will attend the Taipei Computer Show press conference on May 27 and will give a keynote speech on the development of the high performance computing industry.
