On June 13th, according to foreign media reports, LG has a disagreement with Qualcomm in renewing the chip licensing agreement, and its latest 5G mobile phone V50 ThinQ listing plan may be put on hold.
LG e-legal adviser JongSang Lee mentioned in a court document that Qualcomm has pressured LG to sign a patent license agreement to maintain access to Qualcomm chips.
The report pointed out that the agreement between LG Electronics and Qualcomm will end on June 30th.If LG does not renew the license agreement and chipset supply agreement in accordance with Qualcomm's terms, then LG may be discontinued by Qualcomm.
BNK Securities analysts said that if LG Electronics fails to renew its contract with Qualcomm, it is likely that no mobile phones will be produced because LG itself does not produce chips.
According to data released by market research firm Counterpoint, LG is the third-largest smartphone maker in the US market in the first quarter of this year, with a market share of 11%, behind Apple and Samsung.
If Qualcomm breaks down LG, it will cause irreparable damage to LG.And ultimately affect LG's product layout in the 5G mobile phone market.
