According to RT reports, on the 19th local time, Harley said it would cooperate with China's Qianjiang Motorcycle to produce a new type of small motorcycle. RT said the decision was part of Harley's plan to cut costs and shift half of its sales revenue to markets outside the United States by 2027. The company sees China as a major growth market. Sales in China last year increased by 27% year-on-year.
RT introduced that the planned production of a new motorcycle engine displacement of 338cc, which is the company's 116-year history of the production of the smallest displacement of a car. The new model is scheduled to be sold in China from the end of 2020. Harley did not disclose the price range of the new motorcycle, but Qianjiang Motorcycle said it would be "affordable".
RT19 said that Harley's decision is part of a long-term strategy to cope with falling sales and rising trade tariffs in the United States.
American CabletelevisionCNN commented on the 19th that Harley had found a new partner in China as he stepped up efforts to sell motorcycles overseas. In June last year, the European Union raised its tariff on imported motorcycles from the United States by 6% to 31% in response to the Trump Administration's tariff on imported steel and aluminium. Harley said last year that it would shift some manufacturing operations to Thailand as the European Union imposed tariffs on imported motorcycles from the United States. Harley's move overseas once angered Trump, who last year encouraged consumers to boycott Harley.

Trump also told CNBC, "I told him it was still unacceptable to reduce it to 50%. They [Indians] were trying to figure it out."
