On September 23, China Mobile and Huawei, together with Huawei, took the lead in completing the full-scenario test acceptance of Vo5G (including VoNR,EPS Fallback,VoNR switching to VoLTE, etc.) based on 5G independent networking (SA) in Beijing Information Port.
This is another breakthrough after the completion of the EPS Fallback call test under the 5G SA network in June this year. The successful acceptance of the Vo5G call test marks the gradual maturity of the 5G voice call service technical capability of China Mobile in the SA environment.
VoNR (Voiceover New Radio) is a call solution based on pure 5G access, which enables both voice and data services to be hosted on 5G networks. In the early days of 5GSA deployment, EPS Fallback became the solution on the 5G voice evolution road because of the small coverage of 5GNR. As 5GNR coverage improves, users will be able to experience higher-quality audio and video calls from VoNR and enjoy 5GN high-speed data access while making calls.
This test site verifies that the, EPS Fallback call in Vo5G can be quickly reselected back to 5G network, VoNR audio and video calls and 5G to 4G to 5G continuous switching. Many times of dialing were carried out in the process, and the success rate was 100%.
It is understood that the test experimental network is based on the target commercial networking architecture, using Huawei 5G end-to-end commercial solution, including 5G smart core network, 5G wireless access network, and the first 5G dual-mode terminal Mate 20X smartphone.
