AMD 7Nm Navi graphics card is still based on GCN architecture

AMD GCN architecture was born in early 2012. The earliest product is Radeon HD 7700 series.More than seven years ago, it has been difficult to cope with today's graphics load efficiently.

But the design and development of the new architecture is not easy. NVIDIA Turing architecture took about ten years from conception to implementation, and invested billions of dollars.

It is obvious that in the short term it is not possible to push down the GCN GPU structure again, but to be patient again, and so on. Maybe the next 7nm Next-Gen on the road map will be new.

The limitations of the architecture determine that the Navi core will not exceed 4096 stream processors in any case. At the beginning of the GCN architecture, 28 nm was the most advanced technology, and even now, 7 nm is not likely to play its best.

According to known reports, Navi graphics cards will be equipped with 256-bit 8GB GDDR6 memory, with core frequency of about 1.8GHz, performance between RX Vega 56 and GTX 1080, power consumption of the whole card is about 150 W, and the price may be reduced to $259.
