For Intel, even if it has its own wafer factory, it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet their needs, so it is necessary to find a substitute factory to prepare for the follow-up products.

According to South Korean media reports, in order to solve the problem of 14nm capacity shortage, Intel has secretly approached Samsung, which will be codenamed as its contract.

From the previous leaked product roadmap of Intel, Intel's product roadmap, they intend to mix 10nm and 14nm for a long time, and 14nm products still account for the majority. In other words, Intel's 10-nm process will not be able to produce for a long time, so the 14-nm process will pick up the girders for a long time.

It is reported that after Comet Lake Comet Lake, Intel launched Rocket Lake processor in 2021, or 14-nm process, which will be applied with S/H/U full-range processors, followed by 10-nm Tiger Lake, mainly for low-power products of U and Y (as for high-performance mobile H and G series, there will be no 10-nm products by 2021 as desktop processors). 。
