[TechWeb] July 9, according to foreign media reports, Cambodian mobile operator Smart Axiata said on Monday that it had begun to cooperate with Huawei in 5G testing and may launch its 5G mobile network this year.
Smart Axiata, part of Malaysia's Axiata Group Behard, serves half of the country's 16 million people.

He said:
Hunt also said that Smart Axiata currently has about 8 million users in Cambodia. Speaking about working with Huawei to develop 5G networks in Southeast Asian countries, he said Huawei was a reliable and competent partner of Smart Axiata.
5G is the next generation of cellular technology, and the download speed is said to be 10 to 100 times faster than the current 4G LTE network. In addition to faster data download and upload speed, 5G technology is expected to cover a wider and more stable connection.
Huawei is one of the few companies that can provide the next generation of wireless technology. On Monday, the company's chief technology officer said it had signed 50 5G commercial contracts from countries such as South Korea, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with two-thirds of the world's 5G commercial networks being deployed by Huawei. At the same time, the company's 5G base station shipments totaled 150,000.
Huawei is quite optimistic about its future. The company said it was fully prepared for 5G commercial use in China. Last year, the company made its first global 5G call and launched its first 5G terminal.
At present, Huawei has launched 5G cooperation with many countries. Earlier, Maxis, Malaysia's leading telecommunications and digital services company, signed a memorandum of understanding with Huawei to work together to accelerate the development of 5G.
In early June, Huawei signed a 5G contract with MTS, Russia's largest operator.
At present, Huawei is helping the four mobile phone operators in the UK
Foreign media have learned that Huawei has participated in the construction of 5G networks in six of the seven UK cities where Vodafone operates 5G services. Vodafone will soon take the lead in launching 5G roaming services in four European countries: Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain. Huawei's 5G equipment is used in the 5G service part of the company.
Vodafone is the second telecommunication operator to launch 5G commercial network in the UK. The first one to launch 5G commercial network in the UK is EE under British Telecom. Huawei has helped EE Telecom build hundreds of 5G sites.
In addition, Huawei won a contract to build 5G networks for Three and O2. Three will launch 5G in the UK in August. (Little Fox)
