5g necessary patent application: the world's first Huawei in China

According to the statistics of iplytics, a German patent database company, at present, in the global application of 5g standard essential patents (SEP), Chinese companies occupy 34%, which is far ahead in the world, and Huawei is the most prominent one.

With the coming of 5g era, many companies will declare how many 5g patents they have, but there are also many kinds of patents.The so-called SEP essential patents refer to those essential patents that cannot be bypassed. Therefore, they have the highest value and are also the key indicators to measure the 5g strength of a country or an enterprise.

As of September 2019, Huawei has applied for 3325 5g necessary patents, followed by Samsung with 2846. Huawei is nearly 17% ahead and LG 2463 is the third.

Other top 8 entrants include Nokia (including Alcatel lucent) 2308, ZTE 2204, Ericsson 1423, Qualcomm 1330 and Intel 934.


Of course, it's just about the number of patent applications,Samsung, Nokia and LG are the leaders in this field. Huawei ranks fourth, with approval rate less than halfZTE is the least of the top seven.

In addition to standard patents, Huawei, the world's largest communication equipment company, is also ahead of its competitors in the delivery of 5g base stations. According to public data, Huawei has signed more than 60 5g contracts and delivered more than 400000 5g base stations.

Huawei expects to produce 1.5 million base stations next year, double that of this year, and sell 2 million in the next two years, including products that do not use U.S. components at all.
