In the public cloud market, the real competitors of Google cloud are Amazon's AWS and Microsoft's azure. At present, Amazon cloud service accounts for about 50% of the public cloud infrastructure market, ranking first; Microsoft azure accounts for 20% of the market, ranking second; Google cloud accounts for a single digit market share, ranking third.

Whether it's market share or growth rate, Google cloud is lower than Amazon AWS and Microsoft azure, so it has a long way to go to beat these two competitors.

Last month, Google cloud beat Amazon Microsoft to win Vodafone data services. Vodafone will move its data processing and storage business to Google's cloud and use Google's real-time analysis tools to develop new services for business customers.

According to reports, Google even considered quitting the public cloud market completely last year, but finally gave up the idea. In order to narrow the gap with Amazon and Microsoft and strengthen its strength, Google cloud computing Department has adopted a merger and acquisition strategy.

In February, foreign media reported that Google planned to acquire alooma, a cloud service startup, to compete with Amazon and Microsoft in cloud computing. In June, the company also acquired data analysis company looker for $2.6 billion in full cash. After the acquisition, looker will also be incorporated into Google cloud.

In July, the company announced that it would buy cloud storage service Elastifile, after the acquisition, Elastifile will be merged into Google Cloud. In November, the company bought CloudSimple, a cloud computing company, to strengthen its cloud computing business.
