According to previous internal information of TSMC, the new 5nm process will be fully adoptedExtreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, has taken into account factors such as efficiency and cost. The trial production results show that the number of SOC transistors in the new process is 1.8 times of 7Nm, the operation speed can be increased by 15%, and the yield can be maintained at 80% ~ 90%. In contrast, Samsung, which has been "tit for tat" with TSMC in recent years, although it has been quietly catching up with TSMC in recent years, it can hardly be compared with the former in terms of the number of transistors or power consumption efficiency.
At present, TSMC's 5nm process technology has attracted the attention of many first-line manufacturers including apple, Huawei Hisilicon, Qualcomm, etc., but Apple will probably continue to win the "first round".
