According to the report, in 2019, the global sales of smart speakers reached 146.9 million, up 70% year-on-year, setting a new record, while Amazon is still far ahead, followed by Google.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, global sales of smart speakers reached a new record of 55.7 million units, the highest quarterly sales volume ever. According to shipments, the top six smart speaker suppliers are Amazon, Google, Baidu, Alibaba, Xiaomi and apple.

Strong holiday sales in the US and Europe, as well as the recovery of Google's smart speaker business after new product launches, improved parts supply and strong promotions, contributed to the growth of global smart speaker quarterly sales.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, homepod shipments increased 65% year-on-year, from 1.6 million units to 2.6 million units, accounting for 4.7% of the market share, thanks to large discounts offered by retailers such as best buy.

Although Apple initially sold the homepod for $349 and last year cut its price to $299, retailers typically sold it for $199 throughout the holiday season.

Google and Amazon also benefit from holiday promotions. Amazon offers almost free echo dots to Amazon music users, while Google works with spotify.
