White House urged CDC to change its prevention manual to encourage Americans to wear masks (photo)

On thursday, the white house said it would soon amend its previous "outbreak prevention manual" to include non-health workers without wearing masks, but would not force the public to wear them. There is still a serious shortage of medical masks in the United States, so the new instruction manual may cover only cotton and non-medical masks.

At a briefing on Thursday on the new crown virus outbreak, Vice President Pence Pence said :" A new and additional proposal is coming, and I don't think it's mandatory. If people want to wear it, they can wear it. He said the new guide would be released in the next few days.

However, a white house official who declined to be named later said that the guide was "mainly aimed at areas with high community transmission" according to internal discussions, and the matter was still under discussion.
