Facebook has worked with Carnegie Mellon University to map the new crown epidemic in every county in the United States, launching an interactive covid-19 epidemic map, which shows the estimated proportion of virus symptoms in each county.Facebook said the map is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes and should not be used to guide any type of travel. Zuckerberg did, however, say that understanding the spread of covid-19 is crucial for local governments and public health officials to help allocate medical resources and help determine when a place can be reopened.
The map uses public data from a survey conducted by the Delphi Research Center at Carnegie Mellon University. Again, it shows only estimates for people with covid-19 symptoms, not confirmed cases. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said they would update the map every day during the outbreak.
Zuckerberg said Facebook serves billions of people around the world, so it is suitable for such a survey. Currently, Facebook and other technology giants are using their power and influence to track the new crown epidemic.appleWorking with Google to develop a contact tracking system, instagram founders Kevin sestrom and Mike Krieger are monitoring the spread of the virus through a measure called RT, which measures the number of people infected.
