China is now the absolute overlord of LCD, and BOE is the leader in this field.
In the first quarter of 2020, the number of LCD panels shipped globally was 63.03 million, down 10.6% from a year earlier, and the size was 37.438 million square meters, down 3.2% from a year earlier, according to the latest research report.Among them, Chinese mainland manufacturers accounted for 55% of shipments in the first quarter.
After the LCD TV panel's shipping area exceeded LG display for the first time in 2019, and achieved the first place in the world in terms of both quantity and area, BOE continued to rank first in the world in the first quarter, with a shipping volume of 11.33 million pieces and a shipping area of 7.1 million square meters.
Besides Beijing and Eastern, CSOT (TCL Huaxing) worked hard to overcome the impact of supply chain and resumption of work in the first quarter, basically maintaining a high moving rate, its shipments and shipping area of 10.8 million pieces and 6.63 million square meters respectively, the global ranking rose from fourth to second.
South korean manufacturers, the first quarter LGD (lg) and SDC( samsung samsung show) LCD TV before the production and investment is basically stable, but because the mainland back of the factory is also affected by the resumption of work, south korean manufacturers fell more than 30% year-on-year shipments, global share fell to 21%.Its share is expected to decline further as LCD capacity in South Korea is further shut down after the second quarter. Among them, LGD will continue to supply the market with 8.5 generation LCD factory capacity in Guangzhou, and SDC will gradually withdraw from LCD TV supply.
Sharp (sharp): in the first quarter, it still maintained a high rate of activity, but the delivery was exhausted and the inventory continued to be high. In the second quarter, sharp G10 will significantly reduce the rate of grain production to adjust the inventory level, while Guangzhou 10.5 generation line will accelerate the introduction process of brand customers, and it is expected to achieve mass production for brand customers in the second quarter.
At present, the main share of LCD panel in the world has been controlled by Chinese manufacturers, including BOE, Huaxing Optoelectronics (TCL holding subsidiary), etc.
Samsung used to be one of the big brothers in LCD panel market. It has two LCD panel factories in China and two LCD production lines in South Korea. However, because of the fierce competition in LCD market in recent years and the sharp drop in panel price, Samsung has decided to give up LCD panel and shut down the LCD factory in South Korea at the end of last year.
