On May 24, Nokia announced to join the 5g policy alliance open ran through the official website, which will provide more comprehensive and secure solutions to promote the development of 5g and the network in the future. And will work with its customers and other industry stakeholders to promote policy options that will affect the way wireless networks are built, including support for open network research and development.

The open ran policy alliance was established in early may as a new industry alliance to promote open ran technology to government decision makers. The open ran policy alliance brings together telecom operators from all over the world who are testing open ran devices, as well as hardware companies developing mobile radio networks based on open source modular products. They think open ran may solve the government's concerns about 5g network security.

Nokia is the first major equipment supplier to join the o-ran alliance. In addition to its technical contributions, Nokia will also support the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for 5g and future open and secure ran policies.
