Data released today show that the number of downloads of wechat apps in the United States has surged since Friday as the U.S. government is pushing for a ban on wechat, a unit of Tencent.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has previously issued an order calling forAppleGoogle's app store, owned by companies and Alphabet, cancels WeChat's download and update services. But on Sunday, the ban was blocked by California federal judge Laurel Biele. Connecticut believes the government's ban will affect users' rights to the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and the ban on WeChat has wiped out their communication platform. She also said the U. S. government's specific evidence that WeChat constitutes a "national security threat" is "not prominent ".
In response, the u. s. commerce department said on monday ," to protect u. s. national security, ban related transactions is necessary, the department of commerce will soon seek to lift (judge's) order ."
According to the data analysis company sensor tower, during the two days from Friday to Saturday, wechat downloaded about 54000 times, 28 times the 1900 downloads in the previous two days. According to the data analysis company, wecom's download volume also increased significantly in the same period.
In order to curb the development of China's science and technology, the United States has launched a series of measures in recent months to block Chinese technology companies and applications on the grounds of so-called national security.
Tencent said that if Apple and Google remove WeChat from their app store, the updates of the app by existing American users could be negatively affected.
So far, wechat has more than one billion users worldwide.
On Friday and Saturday, the number of enterprise wechat downloads in the United States reached 58000, 193 times more than 300 downloads in the same period a week ago.

Tencent said to the media on September 20 that wecom is an overseas version of enterprise wechat, a management tool for internal and external communication based on organizations and enterprises, and is a completely different product from wechat.
