Arm releases new neuron processor: single core performance rises 50%

The launch of the neoverse solution is the first step for arm to cross the infrastructure. Now, in order to further accelerate the transformation of infrastructure, arm has announced the addition of two new platforms, namely, the arm neoverse V1 platform and the second-generation N-series platform, neoerse N2.

It is reported that as the first platform of V series, neoverse V1 can improve its single thread performance by more than 50% compared with N1, and it is the best performance platform for applications with higher CPU performance and bandwidth requirements. Importantly, neoverse V1 supports scalable vector extensions (SVE), bringing huge application potential to high-performance cloud, high-performance computing and machine learning markets.


Neoverse N2 is positioned as a solution that can provide higher performance computing to meet the performance requirements of scale out. Its use cases can span the cloud, smart NICs, enterprise network to edge devices with limited power consumption. Compared with neoverse N1, neoverse N2 achieves a 40% improvement in single thread performance while maintaining the same level of power and area efficiency.


The communication meeting, Chris Bergey specifically introduced the Neoverse V series, N series, E series in the product strategy and market-oriented differences. He said that in the market-oriented strategy, the Arm uses close communication with partners and customers to provide appropriate solutions according to their corresponding areas.

It is reported that the new arm Neover se computing platform is expected to continue to be optimized until 2021 with an annual growth rate of 30%. It can also be seen from the above that the products released by arm this time have increased by 50% and 40% respectively compared with those of neoverse N1. When talking about how to ensure that the growth rate of ARM CPU does not slow down, Chris Bergey said that in the future roadmap plan announced by arm in 2018, arm hopes that each generation can improve its performance by more than 30%, which is inseparable from the efforts and investment of arm's engineering team, and also has a lot to do with the gradual maturity of software ecology.
