Today, market research firm canalys released its third quarter 2020 shipment report. According to the report, China's smartphone market fell 8% compared with the previous quarter and 15% lower than last year,83 million units were shipped in the third quarter. According to the report,Huawei is still in a leading position, but its domestic mobile phone shipments fell for the first time since 2014, with 34.2 million mobile phones shipped in the third quarter。 Its market share fell to 41.2% from 42.5% in the same period last year and 44.3% in the previous quarter.
Vivo and oppo maintained the second and third places, but the shipment volume decreased by 13% and 18% respectively. Xiaomi, the fourth largest manufacturer, achieved a 19% year-on-year growth, shipped 10.5 million smartphones, and narrowed the gap with the top three.

Canalys said, Huawei's restrictions on smartphone shipments imposed by the u.s. department of commerce on august 17th have partly created a channel vacuum, as other manufacturers have failed to fill the gap immediately.Huawei is facing the most severe challenge since it topped the domestic smartphone market in 2016.
In the fourth quarter, as major manufacturers bring more new products to the market, 5g smartphone competition will also enter the white hot stage.
Canalys believe that Huawei competitors will try to speed up the filling of channel vacancies in the fourth quarter and scramble to take over Huawei advertising and retail resources.
