Surpassing South Korea: China's 19-year-old men and women's average height ranks first in East Asia

A study recently published by the authoritative medical journal the lancet found that the average height growth rate of children and adolescents aged 5-19 in China and South Korea was the fastest from 1985 to 2019.

At present, the average height of 19-year-old men and women in China is 175.7 cm and 163.5 cm respectively, which is higher than that of men 175.5 cm and women 163.2 cm in South Korea, ranking first in East Asia.

Over the past 35 years,The average height of 19-year-old men in China has increased by 8 cm, the fastest among 200 countries and regionsFrom 150th to 65th.

At the same time,The average height of 19-year-old Chinese women has increased by 6cm, the third fastest growth rate in the worldFrom 129th to 54th.

In East Asia, the average height of 19-year-old North Korea is 174.7cm for male and 161.2cm for female, and 172.2cm for male and 158.5cm for female in Japan.

In addition, India only has 166.5 cm males and 155.2 cm females, which is much lower than that in East Asia.

Globally,The highest average height of 19-year-old men and women is the Netherlands, 183.8 cm and 170.4 cm, respectively.

The shortest 19-year-old male is East Timor, with an average height of 160.1 cm, while the female is Guatemalan, with an average of 150.9 cm.
