Network slicing, generally speaking, is to divide the operator's network logically and isolate resources and services logically. Why slice the network? Since the 3G era, data services have gradually replaced voice services and become the main source of income for operators. There are many kinds of data services, but the network resources are limited. In order to ensure the quality of service, it is necessary to classify different services according to the requirements of delay and packet loss.
For example, the network requirements of voice and video phone of conversation class are small delay, and the uplink and downlink are symmetrical or almost symmetrical; interactive classes such as web browsing, database retrieval and online games require small network delay, high packet loss and bit error rate, and low bandwidth requirements; while online music and video of streaming media have low delay requirements and can have certain packet loss And bit error rate, but need higher bandwidth.
Therefore, in the 4G era, according to the two categories of guaranteed rate and non guaranteed rate, the industry has defined nine QoS (quality of service) levels to manage different services more delicately.
4G QoS classification of standards
In 5g era, there are three application scenarios: embB (enhanced mobile broadband), urllc (high reliability and low delay communication) and mmtc (mass machine communication).5g is no longer only to meet the communication needs between people, but also to meet the connection between people and things, things and things. It is also worth mentioning that Ziguang zhanrui, together with China Unicom, innovatively proposed to match network slicing through third-party module for app application data loading, which not only solves the coupling problem between app and operating system caused by ursp rules, but also reduces the time cost for app developers to update app.

In other words, with different network slicing services, consumers can choose game slicing services for game applications to avoid losing games due to network delay, and can automatically switch slices in crowded scenes to ensure smooth call and network experience. Even the same application can choose different network slices when browsing web pages and games. If the slicing scheme is mature enough, the network slicing can be automatic and insensitive.
5g personalized service is expected to come next year
The landing of 5g network slice will also bring the innovation of operators' business model.

However, network slicing can only be realized under 5g SA (independent Networking). Wang Dahai: "5g has been in commercial use for a year, and the slicing has not been implemented. The premise of network slicing is network cloud deployment, that is, the core network should support network slicing, so 5g SA must be commercial first, then terminal slicing and then commercial use."
In February this year, China Telecom announced that it had completed the system performance verification of 5g SA core network commercial equipment. It is reported that China Telecom plans to use 5g SA in more than 300 cities. In June, Beijing Branch of China Unicom announced the launch of 5g SA public test. China Mobile is making faster progress, and this month said it has built the world's largest 5g SA network.
Huang Yuhong, vice president of China Mobile Research Institute, said recently, "the demonstration with partners such as Ziguang zhanrui shows that 5g network slicing has been successfully connected on smart phones, but it is still a simulation version. Xia Xiaofei believes that 5g terminal manufacturers and operators are very motivated to promote the implementation of network slicing services. It's hard to say whether the industry application or the consumer market will use slicing service first.
"Now 5g is deployed faster, and the industry market is slower. However, equipment manufacturers are promoting the development of 5g industry applications, and there are more pilot cases. We need to see that the significance of network slicing for the two markets is different. Whether facing the consumer market or the enterprise market, Ziguang zhanrui's 5g terminal slicing solution chooses the modem centralized solution, which can well meet the demand.
