On January 5, GitHub released its 2020 annual report《The 2020 State of the Octoverse》The operation data from October 2019 to September 2020 are counted.
According to the report, from October 2019 to September 2020, there will be more than 56 million developers on GitHub; 72% of Fortune 50 companies are using GitHub; more than 60 million new projects will be created; and more than 1.9 billion contributions will be added. In terms of the geographical distribution of active users, North America had the largest number of users (34%), but the number of users in North America decreased by 2% compared with last year, followed by Asia (30.7%), and the number of users in Asia increased by 1.1%.
In terms of programming language, JavaScript remains in the leading position; since Python overtook Java in 2019, it will continue to rank second in 2020.
