According to flurry analytics,In December 2020, Apple Devices accounted for the majority of smartphone activation in the United States, although the total amount of activation decreased by 20% compared with 2019.Flurry reported in December that nine of the top 10 smartphones activated on Christmas day were iPhones. However, the data analysis company also noted that the amount of activation during Christmas fell 23% year on year.
The company on ThursdaypublishThis paper presents data for the whole of December and depicts a similar decline as the previous year. Consumer buying behavior seems to be in line with the same period last year: activation rose in December, peaked at Christmas and remained high during New Year's day. However, compared with December 2019, the total number of activations decreased by 20%.
"As we predicted shortly after Thanksgiving, the year-on-year decline in holiday smartphone activation is likely due to the impact of the new crown pandemic," flurry analytics wrote.
Flurry collects data from its analysis APIs, which are used in more than one million applications.
