For TSMC now, the 5nm and 7Nm processes have made its business very hot, and it also makes a lot of money.
According to the latest news of the supply chain, the advanced process of TSMC has been covered by large manufacturers. In addition to these, there are many orders for the relatively old process, such as 12NM. At present, the lack of core in the industry is still very serious.
Although the industry's revenue will grow 23% year-on-year to US $82 billion in 2020, counterpoint believes that it will grow to US $92 billion in 2021, with an annual growth rate of 12%.For TSMC, its forecast sales growth of 13% to 16% in 2021, if realized, will exceed that of the whole industry. To some extent, this will be driven by TSMC's acceleration of EUV enabled node production, involving 7Nm and 5nm chips.
It is reported that apple is considered to be TSMC's largest customer of 5nm chips in 2021, which is expected to account for 53% of the total shipment. This is due to the 5nm process used by apple in the A-Series chips used by iPhone and apple silicon.
In the 7Nm market, apple is expected to consume only 6% of its wafers in 2021, partly because of the extremely crowded market dominated by AMD, NV and Qualcomm.
