After a lot of announcements and rumors, Samsung finally launched the exynos 2100 mobile chipset, which is Samsung's latest flagship mobile processor based on 5 nm process and is expected to become the core of some markets outside the United States for Samsung Galaxy S21.Exynos 2100 is the follow-up product of exynos 990, which brings the synchronous improvement of performance and power consumption.
Exynos 2100 is an eight core processor, led by arm cortex-x1 core running at 2.9ghz. In addition, there are three cortex-a78 high-performance cores and four cortex-a55 energy-saving cores for background tasks. The new processor is 10% faster and 20% more energy efficient than the previous generation. Mali-g78 GPU promises to improve the graphics performance by 40% compared with the previous generation products. It supports multi IP governor and other functions to manage the power usage of CPU and GPU and make it run at the highest speed for a longer time.
In terms of network support, exynos 2100 is compatible with sub-6 and mmwave 5g. The maximum downlink speed of sub-6 is 5.1gbps and mmwave is 7.35gbps. With 1024 quadrature amplitude modulation techniques, it also supports speeds up to 3.0gbps in 4G.
Samsung said the exynos 2100 is now in mass production and should be unveiled in the galaxy S21 family in a few days.
