Microsoft recentlyannounceTo increase the upload file size limit of onedrive file storage service from 100GB to 250GB.Microsoft said the change was made in response to the increased demand for telework and learning, where users need to share large files, such as 4K or 8K video files, 3D models, CAD files or large scientific data sets, reliably and safely with colleagues, customers and peers.
Microsoft explained that this change is not limited to enterprise and school users. Anyone using onedrive can now use the new 250GB file size limit to upload video albums and large game files.
The company said it succeeded in increasing upload restrictions by dividing each file into blocks, each encrypted with a unique key. In addition, with the help of differential synchronization, onedrive optimizes the synchronization of large files and only uploads changes made by users to stored files.
Support for new 250GB file size uploads will be available by the end of January, and Microsoft expects to generally offer new policies by the end of the quarter.
