Recently, it has been revealed that @ fronttron revealed the geekbench scores of three groups of Apple A15 processors, with the highest score of 1724 for single core CPU and 4320 for multi-core CPU. The single core score of 1724 is barely in the past, but the multi-core score of 4320 is a bit ugly. As a comparison, the highest score of A14 was 1606 and 4305 respectively. The single core performance of A15 is improved by 7%, but the multi-core performance is improved by less than 1%.
In fact, we can see some clues from other news disclosed before. The codes of A14 chips are respectively t8101, while it is said that the codes of A15 chips are respectively t8110, which looks more like a14x than A15. Judging from the chip codes, the performance of A15 will not be a big surprise.
@Fronttron also pointed out that the power consumption of A15 chip is 8.5W, which is 1.5W higher than A14. According to this, the performance improvement of A15 should be far more than the above figure. The A15 chip is based on TSMC n5p process. Compared with the first generation 5nm process, the performance can be improved by 7%, and the power consumption can be further reduced by 15%.
Fortunately, this chip is still in the testing stage, and its overall performance tuning still has room for improvement.
