Sony's Playstation studio is a brand new umbrella brand, which includes first-party game developers such as Santa Monica, naughty dog, Tucker punch and insomniac. Sony's reorganization will effectively transfer part of its Japanese studio assets to global brands.
After the announcement, it's no surprise that several Japanese studios have made resignation statements. Recently, the resignants include shinko Yamachi, the producer of blood curse, Ryo sogabe, the video manager, and Masai Yamamoto, the executive producer.
Further away, by the end of 2020, Ichiro waiyama, producer of silent hill and gravity vertigo series, announced his departure and founded bokeh game studio. He co founded the new company with Kazuo Sato and Junichiro Okura. Also at the end of last year, Shoichi niaoyama, a former producer of Curse of the blood, ghost of the devil: Remaking and sacrifice of the soul, made a statement and left Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan studio.
Foreign media VGC reported that Sony Japan studio's profitability in recent years is not good. Developers hope to first develop games that can attract Japanese market, and then attract global players. Playstation hopes that it can be as successful as other first-party studios in the world.
