Amd may launch rDNA framework special mine card against NVIDIA

Recently, in AMD's GPU update linux driver, there is a great opportunity to include the special mine card information based on rDNA architecture. According to Phoronix, the Navi 12 core is specified in AMD's linux driver, and the graphics card using this core does not have video output function. Generally speaking, it does not support video output function from the driver level.

Amd also did not disclose the information of Navi 12 core, which may be based on rDNA architecture or the non display output version of Navi 10 core. It's not the first time that a similar situation happened. At the end of last year, in the data of Navi 10 core part of Linux driver, video display was disabled from the driver level.

In any case, this information indicates that AMD is likely to build a series of graphics cards for cryptocurrency like NVIDIA.

AMD's GPU used to have a good performance in mining, although NVIDIA's ampere architecture GPU is better in this aspect now. Compared with GPU based on rDNA 2 architecture, using rDNA architecture can save time, resources and development costs, especially in the current situation of graphics card shortage. After all, some improvements of rDNA 2 architecture do not work in cryptocurrency, such as supporting optical recovery.

Around the current hot wave of cryptocurrency, amd how to choose is very interesting. If amd really decides to open up a new product line for cryptocurrency, it means that the competition in GPU field will change. It is likely to happen again in 2018. After the mining tide subsided due to the sharp drop in prices, a large number of mine cards emerged in the market, resulting in a large number of GPU surplus.
