On March 11, a Tesla traffic accident occurred in Hainan. After learning of the accident, our after-sales staff immediately contacted the car owner and arrived at the scene to provide assistance to customers, and simultaneously carried out in-depth analysis and investigation of data and scene conditions.
According to the vehicle data, after the vehicle owner presses the brake pedal, the vehicle brake system and ABS work normally, but the initial brake pressure is low when the brake pedal is pressed, and the brake pressure increases significantly only 0.5 seconds before the collision. During the whole process, no fault was found in the accelerator pedal, braking system and driving unit.
According to the site photos provided by the owner, it can be seen that there is a lot of sand and gravel on the ground, and it is muddy due to a lot of water. We preliminarily judge that the main cause of the accident is that the ground is wet and slippery, and the amplitude of the owner's initial step on the brake pedal is light, which leads to the longer braking distance.
In order to find out the exact cause of the accident, we restored the driving state of the collision again that afternoon, driving another Tesla vehicle to test and simulate the braking distance on the road section where the accident happened, and invited the car owners to witness it together. There is still water in the field, and the simulation results have certain reference value.
When using two different braking methods (point brake plus high-strength brake and continuous high-strength brake), the vehicle also appears ABS start, and the braking distance is longer than that on dry road. The test reappeared the vehicle skidding state described by the owner, and stopped within a safe distance under the test state of continuous high-intensity braking. We are also keeping close communication with car owners and actively solving relevant issues.
There is no difference between the mechanical working principle of Tesla's braking system and that of fuel vehicles. As long as the brake pedal is pressed, its working principle is the same as that of a fuel vehicle.
Tesla's vehicle data is read and encrypted by the vehicle gateway. The stored data is recorded by encryption technology, which can't be read, modified or deleted directly.
