Although amd does not make smart phone SOC, CPU and GPU, it sold its rDNA GPU IP to Samsung in June 2019. After nearly two years of research and development, the brand-new exynos 2200 will soon appear.
At the Taipei Computer Show, amd CEO Su Zifeng announced that rDNA 2 architecture will soon enter the high-end smartphone market! Samsung's next-generation flagship SOC will be equipped with customized graphics IP provided by AMD, supporting ray tracing and VRS variable coloring rate.

NVIDIA is still in the leading position in real-time game ray tracing, but,AMD's rising advantage lies in cross platform. Not only PC support, but also Microsoft Xbox series X / s and Sony ps5 use amd rDNA architecture. Now, with smart phones, amd has unified three platforms.
Of course, ray tracing consumes a lot of hardware resources. The high-end graphics card on PC platform is a bit difficult. What kind of implementation method and effect will be on the mobile phone is still unknown, but it will inevitably lead to a revolution.
In October last year, imaging predicted that ray tracing would be introduced into the next generation of img C series GPU. However, in recent years, imaging GPU has basically disappeared in mobile phones.
Arm has also revealed that it is studying ray tracing and VRS, but the newly released mali-gg710 still doesn't support it. The rhythm will have to wait until 2023 at least.
As for VRS, Qualcomm snapdragon 888 and Adreno 660 have launched their first support, and AMD / Samsung will be the second.
