Just like windows 10, Windows 7 and windows 8.1 devices can be upgraded for free, and windows 11 will be provided to some computers running Windows 10 for free.
According to Microsoft, the free upgrade is expected to start in the autumn of 2021, although Microsoft explains that most eligible computers will get it in early 2022, and will be phased as part of the global promotion.
Microsoft said that the free upgrade of windows 11 will last at least one year, which means that owners of qualified windows 10 devices should be able to install new operating systems for free if they upgrade in the first 12 months after the launch.
If the qualified device owners choose not to upgrade to windows 11, they can continue to use windows 10 without any pressure, because the current operating system will be supported until 2025, and the upgrade is not mandatory, although insisting on using Windows 10 will miss many improvements, including the new start menu and taskbar experience, support for Android applications, and more.
Microsoft plans to launch windows 11 this fall, and there is evidence that the first batch of OEM devices will be launched in October, but most devices will not be pre installed until 2022.
