On September 9, Sichuan Institute of cultural relics and Archaeology announced a new batch of archaeological relics unearthed in Sanxingdui. Among them, a gold mask found in Pit 3 in mid June is particularly eye-catching. This is the first complete gold mask unearthed in Sanxingdui. The mask is the size of a human face and as thin as paper.
When unearthed, the gold ware was crumpled into a ball like a piece of manuscript paper, which was difficult to distinguish its shape. After demobilization, the gold mask was found to be very complete, with excellent texture and workmanship, and still glittering thousands of years later.
This gold face as thin as a butterfly wing is 37.2 cm wide, 16.5 cm high and weighs about 100 grams. It should be covered on the head for decoration.
Now, experts have also restored this mask in 3D, which looks quite amazing.
According to the morphological characteristics, it can be judged that it should have been attached to artifacts such as bronze masks. Many netizens also said that Sanxingdui is really a treasure and shocking.
