The next version of Microsoft Office has already been rolled out to business customers, and Microsoft has promised that a consumer version of Office 2021 will be released on October 5.
Microsoft also made the Microsoft Office Long Term Service Channel (LTSC) available to the public for Windows and macOS. It is the enterprise-oriented version of Office 2021 for volume-licensed commercial and government customers.
Microsoft will commit to supporting Office LTSC for five years and will release another permanent version of Office in the future.
The permanent Consumer version of Office 2021 will be fully available on October 5, 2021. Microsoft has already confirmed that the first official version of Windows 11 will be available on October 5.
Pricing details for Microsoft Office 2021 have yet to be announced. Microsoft's focus now shifts to cloud-based Office 365/Microsoft 365 with annual subscriptions and live updates.
