On September 20th, the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO released 2021 global innovation index GII, China ranked 12, increased by 2 in the previous year, WIPO said China has established a global innovation leader.

WIPO said that GII shows in the annual ranking of global economy innovation capabilities and innovation, only a few economies (mostly high-income economies) are always among the best.
However, some middle-income economies, including China, Turkey, Vietnam, India, and Philippines, are catching up and changing the innovative pattern.
Switzerland, Sweden, the United States and the United Kingdom continue to lead innovative ranks and five in the past three years.
The Republic of Korea first ranked first in GII in 2021, four Asian economies entered the top 15: Singapore (8), China (12), Japan (13) and Hong Kong (14).
The GII index report mentioned,Since 2013, China's GII ranking has risen steadily, and has established a position as a global innovation leader, close to the top ten.
China has 19 world leading technology clusters, including Shenzhen - Hong Kong - Guangzhou and Beijing ranked second and third.
