According to the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid, China's first self-developed new superconducting cable was put into use in Shenzhen recently, which is also the world's first superconducting cable applied in the central area of a super-large city, marking that China has fully mastered the key core technology of new superconducting cable design, manufacturing and construction. With a diameter of 17.5 centimeters and a length of 400 meters, the new superconducting cable has a transmission capacity of 43 megavolt-ampere, which is equivalent to four high-speed trains running at 350 kilometers per hour, five times the capacity of conventional cables.
