Korea Telecom KT responds to a national outage: network path settings are wrong, rather than being hit by a large-scale DDoS attack

KT said in its latest announcement that it initially speculated of a distributed denial-of-service attack due to traffic overload, but after careful investigation found that the incident was caused by a network path setup error, it would work with the government to further identify the specific cause.

IT House learned that after the outage, enterprises, restaurants, ordinary families, as well as securities trading systems and other KT network-based services are reported to be off the Internet. Most services have returned to normal since noon that day, with delays in repairs in some areas.
