IBM China recently released a video entitled "YYDS! IBM released the world's first 2nm chip".

According to the introduction, in May this year, IBM announced the development of the world's first 2nm chip, which is following the 5nm, 7nm first, IBM in the semiconductor field another major innovation.

The smallest unit in the chip is even smaller than a single strand of DNA, IBM revealed in the video.

Designed and manufactured by IBM Research at its Semiconductor Research facility in Albany, New York, the silicon wafers contain hundreds of fingernail sized chips, each of which can hold 50 billion 2nm transistors.

In terms of indicators, 2nm improves performance by 45 percent compared to 7nm and reduces energy consumption by 75 percent.

For 2nm applications, IBM sees accelerated AI, 5G/6G, edge computing, autonomous systems, and space exploration.

In addition, IBM has previously said that the 2nm chip can quadruple the battery life of a phone by charging the device once every four days.
