Within 3 to 6 days of diagnosis and onset of symptoms, patients with Omikerong have the highest viral load

On January 11, Beijing time, the Japanese Institute of Infectious Diseases recently published a paper saying that through the study of 21 patients infected with the Aomi Kerong variant, it was found that within 3-6 days of the onset of symptoms, the viral load reached a peak, which meant that their ability to infect others also peaked.

The researchers studied 83 respiratory samples from 21 patients and found that the viral load was the highest within 3-6 days of diagnosis and onset of symptoms; the viral load remained high in all patients for 7-9 days; and even two weeks after the diagnosis, the viral genetic material content in some patients was still quite high.

10 days after the diagnosis, even though the viral genetic material could still be tested, the researchers were unable to use the samples to grow live viruses, meaning that these patients would no longer infect others.

Studies have shown that for previous variant strains, the highest contagiousness before and after the onset of symptoms, but Omilon is obviously different. (Author/Frost Leaf)
